Before I know, time has been passing so fast, it is Derek’s birthday. He leaned in, thought for a moment about his wish, then blew out his candles. There weren’t many people there actually, just me and his dad, Gabe. He was 18, a young adult. And my birthday was the day after tomorrow. Wow, what was I going to do? Where would I have my party? There was no way I could have a party at–the place where I slept. I don’t even have a job. I need one. After my birthday, I am definetly going to get one, so I can begin to some how maybe save up money to buy a house. Derek’s had a job! Am I the only one who gets fired at everything? Maybe, hopefully, when I get a new job, I won’t get fired!
I began to get tired.
”Well I better go-I’m really tired. Happy Birthday!” I said.
”Oh ok, thanks!”
I turned around and ran back-to the place I slept. I went to the park bench, layed down, and this time, had no trouble getting to sleep.
